Education & Awareness

Knowledge as Protection

At WE ARE NOT DIFFERENT CIC, we believe education is the strongest safeguard against harmful traditions and abusive practices. By sharing the truth about autism and Down syndrome, we dismantle damaging myths and challenge exorcism rituals that cause fear and trauma. Knowledge empowers families, strengthens communities, and protects children’s rights.

Education also builds confidence in caregivers, equips schools and faith institutions to create safe environments, and fosters communities that embrace neurodiversity with dignity. Through workshops, training, and resources, we replace stigma with understanding and ensure every child grows up safe, valued, and celebrated.

Why It Matters

Education and awareness are vital because they:
• Defend the rights and dignity of children
• Prevent abuse disguised as culture or religion
• Build stronger, safer communities
• Encourage inclusion and respect for neurodiversity

Our Initiatives

We deliver programmes designed to empower families, schools, and communities: • Workshops for Children — Helping young people understand their rights and build confidence
• Family Awareness Sessions — Equipping caregivers to reject harmful practices and advocate for their children
• Training for Schools & Faith Leaders — Supporting institutions to embed safeguarding and inclusion
• Evidence Based Resources — Providing guides, campaigns, and tools to challenge harmful beliefs

Empowering Families, Schools & Communities

Education and awareness that safeguard children’s rights

We deliver programmes that strengthen families, equip schools, and engage faith leaders to challenge harmful beliefs. Through workshops, training, and evidence‑based resources, we build safe, inclusive communities where every child is valued.

Workshops for Children

Our workshops are designed to help young people understand their rights and recognise their own value. We create safe, supportive spaces where children can build confidence, learn self advocacy, and develop resilience against harmful stereotypes. Through interactive sessions, they gain the knowledge and skills to speak up, embrace their identity, and thrive in inclusive communities.

Family Awareness Sessions

We equip families and caregivers with the tools they need to reject harmful practices and protect their children. These sessions provide practical guidance, emotional support, and evidence based knowledge to strengthen confidence. By empowering families, we ensure that children grow up in environments where they are safe, respected, and celebrated for their unique brilliance.

Training for Schools & Faith Leaders

We deliver training programmes that help schools, educators, and faith leaders embed safeguarding and inclusion into everyday practice. These sessions challenge harmful beliefs, promote accurate understanding of neurodiversity, and provide strategies to protect vulnerable children. By working with institutions, we create systems of accountability and communities of care.

Evidence Based Resources

We provide accessible resources, guides, and campaigns that challenge harmful stereotypes and promote truth. These materials are designed to support families, schools, and communities with practical tools to safeguard children. By replacing superstition with knowledge, our resources strengthen awareness and build a culture of dignity and protection.
